Hi Jim,

As the producer of MySleepCentral.com, I’ve been following your blog and consider you one of the top resources within the online sleep disorders community. Because of your interest in sleep disorders and this community, I am excited to tell you about our latest community project and invite you and your friends to participate.

For the next two weeks, MySleepCentral.com invites the sleep disorders community to share their most memorable, funny, sad, terrifying or inspiring night-time dreams as part of our “Share Your Dreams” ShareFest. We’ll collect the dreams in a special ShareFest portion of the site and feature the best entries for the community to enjoy. You can get started by posting your dream at http://www.healthcentral.com/sleep-disorders/
c/create/.

Whether you’re battling narcolepsy (as you know well) or have worked hard to overcome another sleep disorder, dreams are a fantastical component of our lives. Please share yours with MySleepCentral!

See you at the ShareFest,

Emily
Producer, MySleepCentral.com

Hi Jim!

I recently found your blog on, amongst other things, narcolepsy, and I wanted to reach out. I’m the blog coordinator for EverydayHealth.com. We’re currently recruiting people to write a weekly blog post about their various health conditions and I thought you might be interested.

Everyday Health has over 25 million monthly unique visitors to their website, and there is a lot of potential exposure and traffic to come from blogging with the market leader in online health information. It’s also an excellent platform to promote awareness about sleep disorders, and any cutting edge research or advice.

Let me know if this is something that you’re interested in and might like to talk more about.
I don't know whether or not the gig with Emily worked out on MySleepCentral.com, but I enjoyed reading some of your old posts. As evidenced by the comments of others, there is a shortage of quality writing about sleep disorders, which makes your voice all the more important. I think you have a unique perspective that Everyday Health readers would love for you to share.

Thanks so much!

Hey Jim!
Thanks for all the contributions you've made to the narcoleptic internet community! I'm not sure if you'll get this message but I had a few questions I wanted to address to a narcoleptic. I'm 18 and have been excessively sleepy for about a year now, despite being incredibly healthy, exercise, etc. (I took one of those sleep tests and that proved that I'm sleepy, not just tired). However, I didn't go into REM sleep, and I don't have some of the typical narcoleptic experiences, like collapse upon sudden emotion, or hallucinations. But alot of what you talk about is very familiar to me, I do the naps and am always groggy and stuff like that. I'm just wondering if you have many of these signature traits, or is your condition just mostly characterized by excessive sleepiness? Thanks!
I enjoyed reading your blog. You are always so optimistic. Hope things are going well for you these days.
Ben

Hi Jim!

I came across your blog as I was searching for first person accounts on narcolepsy. I admire your hard work and courageousness for sharing your story as well as helpful information about narcolepsy on your blog. I think that you would agree with my feeling that, as part of the self-discovery process, it can be useful to share your personalized story of narcolepsy, or other mental health diagnoses with others. If you are interested in sharing your story with me, I am assisting with a book that will be published around September 2011 on first person accounts of people with a range of mental health diagnoses. This is another opportunity to continue to share your story and touch the lives of others. If you would like more information on this opportunity please let me know and I can answer any questions you have. As part of contributing to this project, we would also be able to direct readers to your blog for more information. You can contact me directly at aer0930@gmail.com. Thank you for your consideration.

Hey Jim,
I enjoyed some of your blog posts. They are extremely relate able. I've been diagnosed with Narcolepsy since I was 17 and it's been an adventure for sure. Your blog helps a lot because I don't know anyone with Narcolepsy. Im 21 now and live in Arkansas. Keep up the amazing posts and thanks for being so funny! This girl loves your posts!!! ;]
